Green Charge( 4-CPA)

4-Chlorophenoxyacetic acid or parachlorophenoxyacetate (pCPA) is a synthetic pesticide similar to chemicals in a group of plant hormones called auxins. Used as plant growth regulator, 4-CPA is absorbed by plant via root, stem, leaf, bloom and fruit, It is used to prevent abscission of bloom and fruit, inhibit rooting of beans, promote fruit set, induce ormation of seedless fruit. Also used for ripening and fruit thinning. It performs better when used in combination with 0.1% monopotassium phosphate. It also has herbicidal effect at high dosage.

Mode of action:
4-CPA can be absorbed by plant root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit. The biological activity duration is long.
Its main functions are as follow:
To promote fruit set and fruit enlargement;
To form seedless fruits.

Application:

The application of 4-CPA hormone indicated a positive and significant effect on the fruit set and yields of tomato. A positive relationship between the hormone concentration and the fruit set as well as total yield of tomato was also established (higher the concentration, higher the fruit set and tomato yield). The 75 ppm concentration of 4-CPA resulted not only the highest increase in fruit set but also increased the tomato yield and hence economic benefit in tomato production increased. It was concluded that use of 4-CPA hormone increased the fruit set, yield and economic benefit of summer tomato production. Suggested future research can be conducted to observe the effect of higher concentration of the 4-CPA hormone on fruit set, yield and fruit quality of tomatoes.
